Faculty of Education Locker Rentals – Terms and Conditions of Use

1. Purpose

Lockers can be rented by registered Faculty of Education students for the secure storage of school-related materials and personal belongings. The use of a locker is subject to the following terms and conditions.

2. Ownership

All lockers remain the property of Western University’s Faculty of Education. The rental of a locker does not grant students ownership or exclusive possession of the locker.

3. Locker Assignments

· Lockers are rented on a first come, first served basis.

· Lockers will be assigned to renters by designated Faculty of Education staff.

· Renters will be provided with a lock. Renters are not permitted to change the lock, or transfer, share, exchange, or sublet lockers without prior approval from designated staff.

· The Faculty of Education reserves the right to change locker assignments at any time.

4. Renter Responsibility

Renters are responsible for:

· Keeping their locker clean, neat and in good condition.

· Ensuring the locker is securely locked when not in use.

· Reporting any damage, malfunction, or security concerns immediately.

· Removing all personal belongings at the end of the rental period.

Renters are liable for any damage caused by intentional misuse or negligence.

5. Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted in lockers:

· Alcohol, illegal substances or controlled drugs.

· Weapons or items that could be used as weapons.

· Fireworks, explosives, flammable materials, or hazardous substances.

· Stolen property.

· Any item prohibited by university policies or applicable laws.

6. Security and Searches

· Students should not expect complete privacy regarding the contents of lockers.

· The Faculty of Education reserves the right to inspect, search, or open any locker at any time with or without prior notice when deemed necessary for safety, security, maintenance, or compliance with school policies.

· Searches may be conducted by Western University employees or authorized personnel in accordance with applicable laws and university policies.

7. Locks and Security

· Only Faculty of Education-issued locks, where applicable, may be used on lockers.

· Students must not provide locker combinations to other students.

· The Faculty of Education is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property stored in lockers.

· Valuable items should not be left unattended in lockers.

8. Care and Maintenance

Students must not:

· Place stickers, decals, paint, or permanent markings on lockers.

· Alter locks, doors, hinges, or other locker components.

· Tamper with another student's locker or its contents.

Costs associated with repairs due to misuse or vandalism may be charged to the student responsible.

9. End of Rental Agreement Procedures

· All lockers must be emptied by the date specified by the Faculty of Education.

· Items left in lockers after the designated date will be held for 30 days, after which they may be disposed of, donated, or treated as lost property.

· The Faculty of Education assumes no responsibility for items left behind.

10. Violations

Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in:

· Suspension or loss of locker privileges.

· Disciplinary action.

· Financial responsibility for damages.

· Additional consequences as outlined in university policies and procedures.

11. Acceptance of Terms

Use of a locker constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
